Picture a window

In the early stages of design, we were considering different ways of connecting the house not only to the garden but the ancient woodland along which it is sitting. During one of our design meetings, our client’s father spoke out with a spark of enthusiasm, ‘It’d be fantastic to have a big window to look out onto all that green.’

The idea took root instantly. From that seed of thought, we arrived at an oversized, arched window filling the wall and therefore the room. The idea for it was to frame the woods, bringing the scale of the surroundings into the heart of the home. To bleed we chose to make the frame green. This has the effect of connecting with the colours beyond. The result is a space dominated by a grand window with a special connection to nature.
