Filling the room with sun
Designed as a joyful and calming space. The yellow surfaces are at the core of deepening the room’s emotional resonance. The room doesn’t just receive the sun. It amplifies it. The yellow is a tonic, particularly uplifting for those grey London winters. The ceiling and walls with the softening effect of curved corners are finished in Forecrete.
This waterproof plaster is a mix of epoxy resin and quartz-based material that is smooth yet modelled, bringing depth and character. It has the effect of tadelakt but more robust and lasting. We extended this colour to the reeded cupboard doors in a slightly softer, more buttery yellow. For a unified, tactile finish we designed thin vertical shadow lines, picked up by the fluting of the glazed screen. The golden tone of the brass fittings echoes and complements the warmth of the yellow, catching the light and adding a soft gleam and radiance. Accents of white give a sharpness, while the geometric cement tiles are brought back to their sun-baked origins of North Africa, where they were made.
